Academic Integrity, AI and Learning Week, 9-13 November 2026
How can you use AI while maintaining your academic integrity, voice and critical thinking? Join the Learning Lab for a series of events designed to help you navigate the opportunities and challenges of studying in the age of AI.
This year's headline event is To AI or not to AI? Students and academics roundtable discussions with Professor Emma McCoy. Spaces are very limited and booking is now open!

World Cafés
Learning Lab World Cafés are an opportunity for students, staff and alumni to come together in a relaxed environment to build community around shared interests.
Over a drink and some nibbles, you will get the opportunity to discuss some of the world's most pressing issues- climate change, AI, democracy- through a transdisciplinary lens, hearing from peers across the School.

Thursday 12 November, 6-8pm, The Future of Energy
The push for cleaner power collides with soaring demand – driven by electrification, population growth, and energy-hungry technologies. How can we sustainably power our future? Join the Global School of Sustainability, Shefali Khanna (Geography and Environment), Andrea Pia (Anthropology), Aurelien Saussay (Grantham Research Institute) and Kathy Hochstetler (International Development) for a lively, interactive session exploring the future of energy.

- AI, technology and innovation, with speakers from Geography, Law, Management, and the Centre for Economic Performance
- What's the future for world trade?, with speakers from Law, IR, Economic History, and Management
- A World Café offers an engaging environment for sharing and learning, fostering collaborations, and expanding your network.
How might an economist, a philosopher, an anthropologist and a psychologist think similarly or differently about how to solve current global issues? Come along to a World Café to find out!
AI Labs
Hear from the Learning Lab's AI specialists about how AI tools can be best used to support your academic work.
We know that AI use in education is a pressing issue across the School, and these workshops use practical examples and group-based discussion to help you develop your understanding of:
- Where AI can be used to compliment your academic development
- The pitfalls of GenAI tools, and situations where Gen AI tools cannot be used in academic work
- How to maintain your academic integrity and autonomy
You’ll leave with practical strategies to use AI responsibly and effectively, as well as with a greater understanding of the limitations of AI use.
