World Cafés
LSE World Cafés are an opportunity for students, staff and alumni to come together in a relaxed environment to build community around shared interests.
Over a drink and some nibbles, you will get the opportunity to discuss some of the world's most pressing issues- climate change, AI, democracy- through a transdisciplinary lens, hearing from peers across the School.
Past World Café themes include:
- AI, technology and innovation, with speakers from Geography, Law, Management, and the Centre for Economic Performance
- What's the future for world trade?, with speakers from Law, IR, Economic History, and Management
A World Café offers an engaging environment for sharing and learning, fostering collaborations, and expanding your network.
How might an economist, a philosopher, an anthropologist and a psychologist think similarly or differently about how to solve current global issues? Come along to a World Café to find out!

Hear from the Learning Lab's AI specialists about how AI tools can be best used to support your academic work.
We know that AI use in education is a pressing issue across the School, and these workshops use practical examples and group-based discussion to help you develop your understanding of:
- Where AI can be used to compliment your academic development
- The pitfalls of GenAI tools, and situations where Gen AI tools cannot be used in academic work
- How to maintain your academic integrity and autonomy
You’ll leave with practical strategies to use AI responsibly and effectively, as well as with a greater understanding of the limitations of AI use.
