LSE ESRC DTP Training Open to External DTP Students

Please find below the LSE training and events opportunities that external doctoral students, who have studentships from other Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) funded by ESRC, as well as LSE doctoral students can take advantage of!

The PhD Academy

LSE's PhD Academy organises events, courses and training throughout the year that are open to external research students. Some will be held in person and others will be held online, you can use the tabs at the top of the page to select your preference.

Specialist Training - Methods Short Courses

A key function of the Department of Methodology is to provide training for PhD students in the design of social research and in qualitative and quantitative analysis. The department's short courses are open to all LSE students and their will be a number of tickets open for external students (who are a part of another ESRC funded DTP). This means that research students are welcome to attend any of the department's short courses!

LSE ESRC DTP Privacy Notice

LSE ESRC DTP will use your name, department and email address to report on your participation in our training. 

We can only process your personal information if one of the following applies: 

  • We need your personal information to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject (for example, providing data about external students attending our training to our funder, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)).
  • We need to share information with your home organisation in order for them to carry out their official functions, (for example, providing data about their students attending training to their funder, the ESRC). 
  • We require your personal information for a legitimate purpose of LSE ESRC DTP or a third party, as long as that purpose does not conflict with your rights and interests (for instance, we may need to process your data to safeguard our network and information security). Please be aware that this justification cannot be applied when we are performing our official duties. 

Additional information could be shared with your home DTP or institution if there was a cause for concern/safeguarding issue. 

You authorise us to manage your personal information based on clear and specific information, with the ability to withdraw your consent whenever you wish. You can ask LSE to redact your personal information by contacting phdacademy@lse.ac.uk. 

The data does not leave the UK.
