Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I give my application the best chance of success?
Selectors will be looking for potential applicants who can demonstrate that they have a genuine interest in education, good communication skills and a creative approach to problem solving. Strong applicants will also be able to show their ability to provide thoughtful, constructive feedback and make active contributions as part of a team. You don't need to have done anything similar in the past - we're looking for a variety of different voices to be part of the conversation.
  • How does the Student Education Panel differ from SSLC Student Academic Representatives or Change Makers?
The Student Education Panel differs from SSLCs because panelists reflect on questions as individual students, and their feedback is not taken as representative of their peers. Similarly, Panelists do not conduct in-depth research like the Change Makers, although they may engage with Change Makers findings and recommendations from previous years. The Student Education Panel is an opportunity to take feedback or questions from a variety of sources and for students to work in partnership / collaboration with LSE to co-create potential solutions.
  • I am already a Student Academic Representative or also applying to become a Change Maker. Can I apply for this, too?
Absolutely! We aim to attract as wide a variety of thinkers and voices as possible, regardless of whether you are already involved with extra-curricular activities.
  • How are panelists remunerated for their time?
All panelists will be remunerated for the time spent preparing for, and attending, Student Education Panel meetings. This is to ensure equitable access to opportunities and to recognise their labour and contributions to improving LSE. Panelists will receive an honorarium of £30 per meeting, in the form of a Reward Link card redeemable from various retailers.
