Fees

Fees charged for part-time graduate students will be half the full-time fee for each year of study.

Undergraduate programmes are not available for study on a part-time basis. The fees shown relate to full-time students who are allowed to repeat tuition by the repeat teaching panel. The total fee to be paid is dependent on the number of units repeated.

New entrants to LSE programmes from 2021/22 onwards are eligible for either Home or Overseas fee status. EU students who are new entrants from 2021/22 onwards will be classified as having Overseas fee status unless they fulfil UK immigration criteria. The Home undergraduate fee for a study year abroad (either as part of an exchange scheme or without an exchange) is set by the UK Office for Students (OfS)- currently a maxmimum of approximately 15% of the full-time fee in the year the student starts their programme. This applies regardless of the year within the programme that the year abroad is taken. 

For Home undergraduate students starting their programme between 2019/20 and 2024/25, the fee for the year abroad is £1,385. For Home undergraduates starting in 2025/26, the fee for the year abroad is £1,430. For Home Undergraduates starting in 2026/27, the fee for a year abroad is £1,465. The OfS has not yet published the year abroad fee for Home undergraduates starting their programme in 2027/28. It is estimated that the fee will be approximately £1,508, however this fee is an estimate and remains provisional until the OfS publishes the confirmed fee. 

For Overseas undergraduates who started their programmes in 2022/23 or earlier, the fee for the year abroad is £4,625.

The fee structure for Overseas undergraduates taking an exchange.study abroad year changed from 2023/24. Where the exchange/study abroad year is not a compulsory part of a Language Centre BSc, Overseas undergraduates who start in 2023/24 or later will pay the full-time fee of whichever programme they are taking as normal. Overseas undergraduates will need to budget for an additional year of full-time fees to cover the exchange/study abroad year and should refer to the Table of Feees for details of the fee amount for their programme. 

The Home undergraduate fee for a study year abroad (either as part of an exchange scheme or without an exchange)  is set by the UK Office for Students (OfS)- currently a maximum of approximately 15% of the full-time fee in the year the student starts their programme. This applies regardless of the year within the programme that the year abroad is taken. 

Where the exchange/study abroad year is a compulsory part of a Language Centre BSc the fee payable is given in the table below and is calculuated based on the start year of the programme. For example, Overseas students who started their Language Centre BSc in 2025/26 will pay £4,125 for the year they are on exchange (the third year of the programme in 2027/28). This fee is approximately 15% of the Overseas programme fee in a standard, non-placement year. 

The OfS has not yet published the fee for a year abroad for Home undergraduates starting in 2027/28; the fee included in the table below is an estimate and remains provisional until the OfS publishes the confirmed fee. 

The fee payable for the placement year of the BSc Actuarial Science is given in the table below. The Home Undergraduate fee for a placement year is set by the UK Office for Students - currently a maximum of 20% of the full-time fee in the year the student starts their programme. The Overseas Undergraduate fee for a placement year is 20% of the full-time programme fee in the year the student starts the programme. The OfS has not yet published the fee for a placement year for Home Undergraduates starting in 2027/28; the fee included in the table below is an estimate and remains provisional until the OfS publishes the confirmed fee. 

Fee levels under the School’s control are set by the School’s Council around 15 months ahead of the academic year that they relate to. Prior to this, the fee levels will have already been through the School‘s Committee cycle for endorsement.

Fee levels are considered by the Student Numbers and Fees (SNAF) Group three times a year for recommendation to the Academic Planning and Resources Committee (APRC). In addition, Executive Master’s fee levels are also considered by ARPC. Each Academic Department undergoes an Annual Monitoring (AM) process during Autumn Term; any new programmes and their associated fee levels are put forward to the School Management Committee via this process and then to APRC for consideration.  The recommendations from SNAF and AM are submitted to APRC for consideration and endorsement to Finance Committee and Council.
