Reports

Using reports in Akari

In Akari, reports are structured outputs or visualisations generated from the curriculum data stored in the system. They can help in several ways:

  • Presenting curriculum content – the majority of course and programme data.
  • Supporting decision-making – by giving you the information you need to plan, improve, or align your courses and programmes.
  • Supporting reviews – such as the Annual Course Guide Review or quality assurance checks.

There are three places where you can find information relating to reports:

- Course Guide Data report

- Other ('out of the box') reports

This webpage outlines information relating to reports in general.

At the top of some reports is a descriptor as to what data it represents and any relevant context.

If you have questions regarding any specific reports, contact TQARO at tqaro@lse.ac.uk

How often are reports updated?

The data which feeds into the report updates on the hour, every hour. You can also trigger a manual refresh by selecting the “Refresh Data” button above the report. This takes around five minutes to complete.

Course and programme data itself can be updated at any time during the year. However, most updates occur during the Annual Course Guide Review, which takes place between February and May. By June, the majority of course information is typically up to date.

Minor programme updates are also made as part of the Annual Course Guide Review.

Major programme updates are made ahead of the relevant prospectus deadlines.

Once a course or programme is Approved, it cannot be edited further. If you require any changes to an Approved course or programme, please contact TQARO at tqaro@lse.ac.uk.

How can I request a report I would like?

If you have any specific reporting needs, we’d be grateful if you could share them with the Curriculum Management project team before 30 June 2025. This will help us ensure that Akari is as useful and relevant to your work as possible.

If you have already sent through any requirements to TQARO or the Curriculum Management project team, these will have been captured and there’s no need to send them again.

Before submitting a request, we strongly recommend exploring the existing reports in Akari to see if they already meet your needs.   Reporting requirements are being gathered from all academic departments in June 2025. The project team will then prioritise the development of reports that are in highest demand across the School and keep the development schedule updated.

Once a report is confirmed for development we will be able to share an expected timeline for its publication.

Can I create reports myself?

The reports are generated using specialised software that requires a licensed installation, so general access for development isn’t available. However, if you have specific needs, please contact tqaro@lse.ac.uk and the project team will aim to assist you however possible.

What can I do if I need a report which isn't available?

Please send any report requests to the Curriculum Management project team by 30 June 2025.

It may be that the project team isn’t currently able to create the report, or you may need it ahead of time. If that is the case, then exporting the reports as an Excel file or CSV and working with the data may provide an alternative solution. If you have any questions or would like support, please contact tqaro@lse.ac.uk and the project team will be able to help.
