What we do and how we can help departments

Market intelligence, webinars, recruitment events and more

Student Recruitment and Study Abroad (SRSA) can provide advice and support to academic departments through the following activities:

Market intelligence

We can assist with the development of your academic portfolio, both your existing programmes and new ones, through the provision of market research and intelligence. Employing a variety of methods, including quantitative and qualitative research such as data analysis, surveys, and focus groups, we can help your department remain attractive to prospective students. Find out more about the support we provide here.

Our monthly Market Intelligence Bulletin summarises research and HE news that may impact student recruitment and mobility. Find past bulletins here.

Our weekly COVID-19 Bulletin summarises COVID-19 news and research related to student recruitment. Find past bulletins here.

On campus events

  • Undergraduate Open Days: We organise two Open Days a year for prospective undergraduate students. Open Days are an opportunity for prospective students to visit LSE, find out more about our degree programmes and discover what it’s like to be a student at the School. Academic departments and student support services are asked to deliver talks for offer holders and/or staff information stands.
  • Undergraduate Offer Holders' Day: The Offer Holders' Day enables undergraduate students who have received an offer to study at the School to find out more about their chosen programme and life at LSE, before finalising their firm and insurance choices. Academic departments and student support services are asked to deliver talks for prospective applicants and/or staff information stands.
  • Student Shadowing: Year 12 and Year 13 students from schools and colleges in the UK spend half a day at LSE shadowing an undergraduate student.
  • Taster courses: An opportunity for Year 12 students to spend a day on campus, learn more about LSE and attend taster sessions in their chosen subject.
  • Campus tours: Guided tours of the campus led by current LSE students, followed by an information session delivered by a member of the Student Recruitment and Study Abroad team.

Visitors are also welcome to take a self-guided tour of the campus, using the LSExplorer.
  • Drop-in service: Prospective students can visit the Student Recruitment and Study Abroad office on a drop-on basis to obtain general information about the application process and our programmes.
  • Group visits: The team regularly host school visits to the LSE campus for groups of 10 or more students in Year 11 or above from the UK and overseas. Visits typically involve a tour of the campus and an introductory presentation delivered by the Student Recruitment and Study Abroad team.

We may also be able to arrange a virtual information session for a school group. This would involve an online presentation introducing study options at LSE, student life and the application process followed by the chance for students to submit their own questions.

See our Visit LSE webpage for more information.

If you would like to run your own information sessions for prospective students, we can help with advice and guidance, promotion of the event, management of online bookings and related emails, provision of materials, delivering a Studying at LSE or Applying to LSE talk, recording of the event and feedback survey and analysis.
