Enrolment and Welcome 2024

Staffing Opportunities

We are looking for people who can exercise good judgement; have a flexible attitude to work and hours; can relate to students and are comfortable in a front-facing service focussed role.

We are looking for people who can exercise good judgement; have a flexible attitude to work and hours; can relate to students and are comfortable in a front-facing service focussed role.

The arrivals period at LSE runs from mid-August to late October. Most students will start to arrive on campus during the main Welcome period - Friday 20 September and Monday 23 to Friday 27 September 2024. We are particularly busy as we run Campus Enrolment and Welcome.

To assist with these key events we recruit a number of Campus Enrolment and Welcome Staff, who are vital to the smooth running of the arrivals period.

The recruitment takes place in two groups as shown below. Because we're looking for different people in each group you can only apply in one group.

Within each group, there are a variety of roles available and you will be asked to specify which roles you'd like to undertake on the application form. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you will be allocated your preferred role. People who offer more flexibility about the roles they'd like to undertake are more likely to be selected. Whichever role you prefer, you are expected to be flexible and be prepared to undertake any of the roles listed.

To apply read all of the information below and then follow the instructions in 'the how to apply' section at the bottom of the page.

Applications for Welcome/Enrolment 2024 will open in mid-May. This webpage, including the role profiles, will be updated in due course.

Eligibility to apply
Who can apply for what?

Because these roles are temporary, we require people who are ready to work with limited training.

  • The roles in Group 1 are suitable for people who have worked with the LSE Student Services Centre before - assisting with exams or graduation. Current or recently graduated students are only able to apply for the Queue Organiser role.

  • The roles in Group 2 are more suited towards current or recently graduated LSE students.

When recruiting students for Group 2 priority will be given to:

  • Students who have worked for the SSC before or are currently working for the LSE Events Office as events stewards.
  • Students who are volunteering for the Off Campus Support Scheme, Peer Support Scheme or Widening Participation.
  • PhD Students, especially those who teach.

Please be mindful that these roles will require you to be present in the UK to attend training and perform your duties. If applying, please bear this in mind when organising your travels.

Availability
and shift allocation

Whilst we will consider any applications our preference is for candidates who are reliably available throughout the whole period. We do understand though that people may have other commitments and we will always do our best to work around these.

When you apply you will be asked to indicate when you are available to work.

We aim to allocate shifts as far in advance as possible and will always try our best to give you the pattern and quantity that you have requested.

  • Enrolment roles will likely be allocated as full day shifts, with some exceptions. Priority will be given for those who can work full day shifts.
  • For Welcome roles, we will allocate half day shifts.

Please ensure that you indicate on your application form whether you are a visa-holder.
