Food allergies and other diets

How we cater for different food preferences, religious and other diets and allergies

We are committed to ensuring that the food we provide meets your needs. This page explains the diet options available.

We make every effort to accommodate all dietary requirements, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet all requests. We aim to provide the highest possible quality possible in our products and customer service and to offer choice, value and variety. Accordingly our range of products is continually under review.

Halal/kosher
Accredited halal/kosher meals can be accommodated in catered halls and selected restaurants on campus. Halal meat sandwiches/wraps are also available in our cafes on campus. We have a halal chicken street food counter in the Fourth Floor Restaurant.

Vegetarian
There is a wide range of vegetarian options available in all of our outlets. All restaurants and catered halls have at least one vegetarian meal option each day. Sandwiches, wraps and snacks are also readily available in our cafes.

Vegan
Vegan meals and options are available in some outlets and restaurants. Please ask staff for assistance.

Dairy free
Dairy free milk substitutes are available in all of our outlets at no extra cost.

Gluten free
Gluten free options are available in most outlets. Please ask staff for assistance.

Healthy options
There is a wide range of food offered across campus, including low fat, nutritious and organic options. Each outlet sells various products and all offer salads, vegetables, fresh fruit and choices of protein. We try whenever possible to promote healthy eating and regularly hold 'Feel Good Food Days' which promote reduced meat menus. However, due to customer demand, items such as chips and pizza are still offered.

Ethically sourced food
We actively promote Fairtrade products. Tea, coffee and sugar in all our catering outlets is ethically traded and Fairtrade refreshments served at all conference and events. For further information please see: Environmental, sustainable and healthy food policy and targets

Allergens

Our catering staff are trained on the regulations on food labelling. Allergen information can be found on the packaging of all packaged goods and is readily available for all in-house prepared options.

If there is a specific ingredient that you need to avoid for any reason, please speak to the duty manager of the outlet, who will assist you.

Our kitchen handle a wide variety of food stuffs, so we can't provide any meals that are totally allergen free.

If you have a severe food allergy, catered halls will not be suitable for you.
