We all love this planet and our lives depend on it. Back in 2007, Sydney held the world’s first notable lights out movement. Since then, the so-called Earth Hour has been established by WWF, as the largest grassroots movement for the environment, encouraging people to use resources sustainably, starting from reducing electricity consumption.
Take a look at the map below! Adapted from NASA Visible Earth, it showcases how much electricity we use globally. Earth Hour is definitely needed to help spread awareness about saving energy!

So, how could you take part in this worldwide event?
This year’s Earth Hour is on 30 March, at 8:30pm your time! All you have to do is switch off all your lights for one hour and feel connected to the Earth!
LSE and the Environment
As many of you might have noticed, a huge crowd gathered outside Saw See Hock last Friday 15 March 2019 to join the global student strike for climate change. Many LSE students joined the march to protest in Parliament Square, chanting and holding up their handmade banners.
Making LSE greener depends on all of us and our actions. Be active and be sustainable. You can learn more about sustainability at LSE here.
