Marketing Manager, La Fosse Associates

MSc Media and Communications Governance, 2014

Why did you choose LSE, and why did you choose your programme of study?

Recommendation from undergraduate professor, quality of department, reputation of university, location.

Overall, how do you look back on your LSE experience?

My education at LSE provided me with an opportunity to meet people from around the world, who challenged me to think bigger, push past my comfort zone, and never stop my academic pursuits.

Please describe your career path to date:

I got an internship in Marketing while finishing my dissertation in July / Aug 2014.  I continued with the same internship after completion and then was offered a full-time role with the company post-graduation as Marketing Executive. (They sponsored my visa as well).  Three years on, and I'm still with them today, having been promoted to Marketing Manager.

Why did you choose your current job?

Interested in marketing and the technology sector - we work with tech and digital firms.

Tell us about your current job:

Responsible for all marketing and communications activities, including: marketing strategy, employer branding, website design, build, and maintenance, event planning, content and community management, branding and messaging, internal communications, press releases, liaising with journalists, monitoring customer satisfaction, PR and award-writing, videography, and graphics.

What advice do you have for LSE students who are looking to enter a similar profession to you?

Get in the door early, find an internship first and use that to network / leverage to get into the job or company you want.  Small companies are more flexible and often much easier to get a foot in the door.
