My name is Clara Cirdan and I am a PhD candidate in the Sociology Department at the LSE. My research looks at how the idea of ‘cultural democracy’ is staged within different museums in the UK and problematizes the social role of museums – seen as both local and global agents – for visitors, staff members and the communities museums are part of.

I came to the LSE in 2019 to start my MSc in Culture and Society and my experience was shaped by the workshops, activities and 1:1’s I took part in at LSE LIFE, which offered a creative, intellectually stimulating, and supportive space. My wish is that I can offer the same to students coming for 1:1’s.
