Your LSE100 seminar teacher is your first point of contact for support on your LSE100 assessment. You can email them directly or book a slot during their weekly drop-in hours. More information about your teacher’s availability can be found on the LSE100 Moodle. All the information you need to complete your assessment can also be found on the LSE100 Moodle in the ‘Autumn Term (AT) Individual Assessment’ section, including detailed assessment guidance, marking criteria, and sample assessments.
If you'd like another perspective on how you're approaching your Event Analysis, check out LSE LIFE's workshops and one-to-one support.
Workshops
LSE LIFE is offering a number of workshops this term to help you prepare for your Autumn Term Event Analysis assessment:
The workshop will examine different areas to consider when undertaking your AT Event Analysis assignment. We will consider a variety of different aspects: such as how you might undertake an effective analysis of your case, how to structure your thinking, as well as costs and benefits. Also, how do you see your own discipline in relation to your intervention and how can an interdisciplinary approach to your topic area generate more meaningful insights? How did students from previous year groups successfully discuss an interdisciplinary approach?
These sessions run across multiple times and days this Autumn Term: in AT5, AT7 and AT8, both on campus and online. The on campus workshops take place in LSE LIFE Workspace 2. Dates and times are below:
AT5: Wednesday 30th October 12-1pm (LSE LIFE Workspace 2) - Fully Booked
AT5: Thursday 31st October 12-1pm (LSE LIFE Workspace 2)
AT7: Wednesday 13th November 3-4pm (LSE LIFE Workspace 2)
AT7: Friday 15th November 12-1pm (online)
AT8: Wednesday 20th November 11am-12pm (LSE LIFE Workspace 2)
AT8: Thursday 21st November 11am-12pm (online)
One-to-one appointments
Book a one-to-one appointment with an LSE LIFE study adviser to get support with the Event Analysis that you'll be submitting later this term. Use the link https://portal.lse.ac.uk/s/schedule-appointment?dept=life to book your place.
What are these appointments for?
In an LSE LIFE x LSE100 one-to-one, you can discuss many different aspects of your work on your Event Analysis. Together with the LSE LIFE study adviser, you can
- share an outline of what you're planning to write,
- show and discuss some draft text,
- talk through your ideas for the assessment,
- consider ways to organise your work and your time to meet your deadline,
- interpret your Turnitin report and use it to improve your writing, or
- simply have a chat about your approach to this first assessment.
*Remember, you don't need to bring a completed piece of work to benefit from a one-to-one appointment!
The LSE LIFE Study Advisers will be familiar with the requirements of this assignment and with what your markers might be looking for. However, they will not advise you or answer specific questions on the content of your course. For content-related questions, you should see your LSE100 teacher during their drop-in hours.
Please note, LSE LIFE does not provide a proofreading service - and will not proofread your text. These one-to-one appointments are specifically for this Autumn Term assignment. (If you'd like to have a chat about any other aspects of your studies, you can always book a standard appointment with an LSE LIFE Study Adviser through the Student Hub).
When are these appointments and how can you book one?
LSE LIFE x LSE100 one-to-one appointments will take place in the week prior to your hand-in date. Appointments are available to book via LSE for You - https://portal.lse.ac.uk/s/schedule-appointment?dept=life
If it turns out that you cannot make your appointment, please cancel! We are limiting each student to only one LSE LIFE x LSE100 one-to-one appointment for this assessment. This is to ensure that these specialist appointments are available to as many students as possible. If you do not attend your appointment, or if you cancel with 24 hours' notice or less, you will not be able to have another LSE LIFE x LSE100 one-to-one appointment. (This does not apply to the availability of other appointments at LSE LIFE.)
Where do the appointments take place?
LSE LIFE x LSE100 one-to-one appointments will take place on campus, in LSE LIFE, on the ground floor of the Library. When you arrive for your appointment, just let someone at the LSE LIFE reception know you're there.
Given the nature of these conversations, we strongly recommend that you plan your appointment so that you have enough time afterwards to take action on the advice and ideas you discuss with the LSE LIFE Study Adviser.
