Learn more about how to choose your LSE100 theme

Before registering at LSE, you will select one of three themes to focus on during LSE100, each of which foregrounds a complex and pressing question facing social scientists. We encourage you to choose a theme that excites you or one you’re curious to learn more about. As a unique part of your time at LSE, LSE100 gives you the chance to take risks and explore ideas beyond the boundaries of your degree programme.

In 2022/23, the available themes are:

• How can we avert climate catastrophe?
• How can we control AI?
• How can we create a fair society?

You will receive more information from the School shortly about the process for selecting your theme and we will provide more information on our Welcome pages at the same time.

Online information sessions:

The LSE100 Co-Directors hosted a series of online sessions to answer your questions about LSE100 and the themes that you can choose from. This year's sessions took place on Zoom in late August and early September 2025. You can find recordings of each Ask the LSE100 Co-Directors session here:
