Dr Jillian Terry SFHEA is Associate Professor (Education) and Co-Director of LSE100, the sector-leading flagship interdisciplinary course taken by all undergraduate students at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Trained as a scholar of feminist International Relations, Jillian’s primary research agenda is now situated in scholarship of teaching and learning, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary education, inclusive pedagogies, and the role of AI in cross-disciplinary learning. Jillian is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and regularly consults with universities across the UK and around the world on the creation of new interdisciplinary courses and programmes. In the 2025/26 academic year, Jillian will be part of the first cohort of LSE AI and Education Fellows, working in collaboration with Dr Chris Blunt to embed and fully integrate generative AI tools into students’ experiences of learning, researching, and collaborating in LSE100. 

As a longtime enthusiast and advocate for interdisciplinary education, Jillian has worked on LSE100 since 2015, when she first joined the course as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) during the final stages of her PhD before becoming an LSE100 Fellow in 2017. She became Assistant Professor (Education) and Deputy Director of the course in 2018, and has served as Co-Director of LSE100 since 2021. 

Jillian completed her PhD in International Relations at the LSE in 2016 under the supervision of Professor Kimberly Hutchings. Her doctoral research theorised a feminist ethical framework with which we can better understand the moral complexities of 21st century war, including the use of drones, private military security companies, and counterinsurgency tactics. In doing so, Jillian engaged with the longstanding scholarly debate around just war and considered how feminist ethical interventions including empathy, experience, and relationality can uncover new and challenging theoretical considerations when thinking about the ethics of modern warfare and political violence.  

Prior to joining the LSE, Jillian completed an MA in Political Science at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada) and a BA (Honours) in Political Science at Memorial University (St. John’s, Canada). She was funded for both her MA and PhD research by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and was also a Commonwealth Scholar from 2011 to 2014 while completing her PhD.
