The Peer Support thank you event was organised to show appreciation and celebrate the fantastic achievements and hard work of the 31 graduate and undergraduate LSE Peer Supporters who supported LSE students during the 2016/ 2017 academic year.
The Peer Support Scheme is in its fifth year at the LSE. This year the Peer Supporters were attached to twelve LSE Halls of Residences where some lived in the hall and others lived out.
The Peer Supporters are here to support all LSE students irrespective of whether they live in halls or private accommodation; whether they’re graduates or undergraduates.
Many LSE staff attended the graduation, including Andrew Young and Paul Kelly and several wardens (Debra Ogden, Nicola Morgan and Julia Biggane) as well as Head of Residential Life; Rachael Elliott and Jennifer Frances and many support staff from the Student Services.
Adam Sandelson (Head of Student Well Being), Monika Smolar (Peer Support Co-ordinator) and Alex Segal (Peer Support Supervisor) praised the peer supporters for their hard work throughout the year.
Two of the Peer Supporters, Allan Rogers and Chloe Russell, spoke of how much they had gained and learnt from being peer supporters; both personally and professionally.
Chloe Russell describes what being a Peer Supporter means to her.

Allan Rogers speaks about his experiences as a Peer Supporter.
Vithun Ilankovan receives his Peer Support graduation certificate.
Many of the LSE staff spoke, appreciating and praising the Peer Supporters’ commitment and hard work.
Andrew Young also talked about his own experiences at university and his awareness of how hard it can be for newly arrived undergraduates.
Allan and Chloe talked about how they had both grown in confidence as a result of the Peer Support training and being in the role of Peer Supporters.
They spoke about what a wonderful group of friends they had made amongst the other peer supporters and especially praised the other peer supporters at Carr-Saunders and spoke of how they had worked very closely with them throughout the year.
Well done to this cohort of Peer Supporters!
