Home Delivery of IT Equipment - Courier Deliveries

When it comes to shipping IT equipment to end users' homes, different protocols apply depending on the type of equipment. Below is an outline of the responsibilities and procedures: 

Home Delivery for Dell Products 

DELL allows us to place an order for home delivery directly through OneFinance for the following Dell products: 

 

  • Laptops
  • Monitors
  • Accessories

How to Order Home Delivery 

Important: When placing an order for home delivery, it is the responsibility of the person raising the order to ensure that someone will be available to receive the delivery when it arrives. If you will be on annual leave or otherwise unavailable to receive the order, please refrain from placing the order for home delivery during that period or have the order delivered to campus instead. This helps ensure your order is safely received and doesn’t go missing. 

Delivery of Dell Desktops and Apple Devices 

For Dell desktops and all Apple devices (iMacs, MacStudio, Mac Mini, MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones), the process is different. These items must first be delivered to campus for configuration (Dell Desktops) or because our current Apple supplier cannot provide a reliable and consistent home delivery service. After the desktops have been configured or the Apple devices have arrived DTS will then arrange for them to be delivered to the person co-originating the onward shipping within the department or division. 

The respective department/division is responsible for arranging these items to be couriered to the end users' home addresses. DTS is not responsible for arranging deliveries outside of school premises. Important points to note: 

When placing the order in OneFinance, please specify the following in the comments box:

  • The device is intended for onward shipping
  • Email address of the person coordinating the onward shipping
  • Request to retain the original box the device came in
