Academic conferences at LSE

The most important consideration is the timing of the conference.  Space on LSE’s campus is intensively used throughout the year with academic teaching or exams during term time, Summer School teaching throughout the summer vacation and a number of executive programmes running during the winter and spring breaks.

The time periods when it is most likely that a large academic conference could be accommodated are;

Last week August / first week September

Spring break (please see Term Dates )

Subject to Summer School dates, first week summer vacation (please see Term Dates)

Please contact event.services@lse.ac.uk in the first instance to discuss possible timings and venues for your conference. Room Bookings can help identify the most likely venues and timings for your conference based on your requirements & LSE's own academic & teaching commitments (which are prioritised and scheduled in ahead of all other bookings) and assist in preparing room hire quotes for the conference budget.

Examples of previous conferences venues

LSE has a wide range of venues and we have hosted academic conferences of varying sizes across combinations of most buildings on campus, all of which have worked well.  Please see examples below:

LSE's reputation for efficient conference organization is surely second to none thanks to you and your team.  If BAFA wasn't committed to 'do the rounds' from year to year I'm sure they would by now have booked to be back here next year!” (Prof Richard Macve, Emeritus Professor of Accounting)

In a word, all the behind-the-scenes work that makes a conference successful.” (Prof David Marsden, Department of Management)
