Joining our Careers in China events? Make the most of your time by following the tips below...

1. Do your research
   Research employers online before events – look at the company’s website and social media to learn about the business, its culture and values, roles available and the recruitment process. Employers will expect you to have done a little research in advance; it will enable you to ask intelligent questions during any event Q&As and help you decide if you want to work for the organisation. 
2. Know what's on offer
   Some employers may be recruiting for full-time graduate positions that start in the autumn, others will be recruiting interns for the summer or might have roles with immediate start dates.
3. Ask questions
   Asking questions is a good way to get noticed by an employer if you decide to follow-up with them after the event or make an application to the company.
4. Take notes
   Keep a notepad with you and write down any new information you learn about organisations and sectors; you can use this information to enhance your job applications and interviews. Keep a note of peoples' names for future networking and of application deadlines to ensure you apply on time!
5. Update your CV
   Your CV will often be your first opportunity to make an impression with an employer and will frequently be used to make a very quick decision about your potential suitability for their organisation and role. Use our information on CVs, cover letters and application forms, CareerSet or book a one-to-one appointment to get your CV ready.
6. Follow up after the events
   - Connect with employers on LinkedIn and follow them on social media.
   - Thank the organisations for their time and re-state your interest.
   - Apply! Check the requirements and recruitment cycle - if it's rolling, don't wait for the closing date as the roles may be full by then.
   - Check your emails, including your spam folder! You don't want to miss out because of a lost message.
