Discover | Law and legal services is our careers programme for all LSE students and recent graduates interested in working in law, whether at the Bar or as a solicitor. The programme runs throughout the academic year and comprises: 

• Law recruitment and networking fairs - Connect with a wide range of law and legal services employers at our flagship recruitment and networking event.  Previous employers have included Herbert Smith Freehills, the BBC, Kirkland & Ellis, White & Case, Covington, Clyde & Co, Hogan Lovells, and Latham & Watkins 

• Law in Practice Panels - Hear from practitioners talk about their day-to-day work in many legal practice areas.  Panellists are drawn from alumni, the Bar, and the solicitor profession, including those working in-house Skills workshops - Build essential legal skills through interactive workshops often led by external lawyers.  These help you understand whether you’d enjoy the job while preparing you for the recruitment process 

• Visits to the Inns of Court - Discover more about routes to the Bar, distinguishing between Chambers and where the Inns fit into a barrister’s journey 

• Application advice – Learn from our Careers team on how best to tackle the basics of the varied recruitment processes and enjoy short discussions on commercial topics to develop greater commercial awareness.

Online tools, resources, and job opportunities

Beyond LSE, there are a number of external events and a range of digital resources you can access which will allow you to network and engage with different firms and deepen your understanding of the law and legal services sector. These include: 

•  Legal Cheek: A good place to start for law firms and barristers’ chambers, offering a  range of virtual law fairs through the year. 

• Chambers Studenthttps://www.chambersstudent.co.uk/ – A great resource for comparing different employers and exploring their training contract or pupillage offers, 

• All About Law: Virtual law fair and a range of other resources. 

• LawCareers.net: Hosts a number of events to support you with connecting with law firms, exploring skills, attributes and techniques that are necessary to launch a career at a law firm.  In depth information on getting into law. 

• Bar Council: Find out about the barrister pathway here and their annual pupillage fair. Designed in partnership with the Inns of Court and Specialist Bar Associations, The Bar Council’s Pupillage Fair is the largest recruitment event for students and graduates aspiring to join the Bar of England and Wales.  

• Bridging the Bar: This charity supports aspiring barristers from a range of statistically underrepresented groups at the Bar through funding and training opportunities.  
  

• targetjobs Law hub: Legal sector advice and resources on how to become a solicitor or barrister, as well as describing the work experience, skills and qualities that will make you a success. 

• Prospects – how to become a lawyer: Another excellent resource with information covering career pathways, work experience, qualification routes, and more. 

• The Law Society - independent professional body for solicitors. 

• The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) – important resource for updates about training. 

• Bar Standards Board – barristers' regulatory body in England and Wales.
