Your IT Account

Account Activation

Before you can use LSE IT facilities you need to activate your Tech account, which will give you a network username, password, and email address. If you need assistance, please visit the Tech Centre, Library 1st Floor.

Conditions of Use

Please familiarise yourself with the Conditions of Use of IT Facilities at LSE as any breach of these conditions could result in the School taking disciplinary action against you.

OneDrive for Business (OD4B)

A complement to your H: Space provision, OD4B provides you with 1 terabyte of storage for files and documents. For more details, visit the LSE IT News Blog.

Protecting Your Account & Devices

Cyber Security 

Did you know, you are responsible for all use of your IT account? You must not share your password with anyone. For security, please do not write down your password once you have created your IT account. 

Protect Your Account

Remember to protect your data and identity by locking your computer whenever your leave it by pressing the Windows key and L. For more tips on keeping safe online, please see the Cyber Security webpages.

 

Connecting to LSE

WiFi at LSE

Our recommended WiFi network is eduroam which allows secure connectivity across LSE and many other institutions in the UK and abroad. To connect to eduroam, use your LSE email address and password. 

Webmail & Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

To access your LSE email from anywhere in the world, turn on Multi-Factor Authentication and then use: mail.lse.ac.uk, logging in your LSE username and password.

Remote Access

To access files and folders on the LSE network, on or off campus, please use the web browser based Remote Access service by logging in with your LSE username and password.

Free Software & Discounts

Free Microsoft Office 

You are eligible for free copies of Microsoft Office software on 5 desktop (PCs or Macs) and 5 mobile devices.

Assistive Tech

Support and training is available for students with disabilities. Find out more about our assistive technologies here.

Laptop Surgery

Located in our Walk In Centre, the Laptop Surgery offers staff free advice and hands-on assistance with problems connecting to LSE resources from personally-owned laptops and mobile devices. 

iRoam Laptop Loan Service

During term-time, students can borrow Apple laptops in the Library using the iRoam Laptop Loan Service. Located on the ground, 1st and 4th floors, self-service cabinets release laptops which automatically connect to WiFi, provide access to H: space and run Microsoft Office software. 

Printing, Copying & Scanning

There are HP LaserJet printers or Canon multi-functional devices (MFDs) in all of the student computer rooms and open areas.

All printing is double-sided by default, follow these easy steps to print to an LSE printer:

  • Credit your printing account at a Value Loader in the Library Copy Shop or online using your Papercut printing account. (3.5p per side for b&w, 10p per side for colour)
  • Send your documents to the appropriate print queue
  • Log on to the print station and choose your documents to print

You can also upload and print your document via our Mobile Printing service.
