Centre your self

It is important to remember that looking after your wellbeing is just as important as meeting deadlines for applications or coursework. This is easier said than done and something you might have to actively work on. As much for your time at LSE as for your life after graduation: Try to understand what influences your wellbeing, know your strengths and weaknesses and find a balance that works for you.

Both LSE LIFE and the Wellbeing Service host regular sessions to help you think about these questions and work on developing an approach that works for you. Also, there are a variety of activities that can help you wind down, such as the wellbeing sessions hosted by the Faith Centre, or crafts and mindfulness events by the Wellbeing Service and the LSESU. It can always be helpful to talk to someone about your experiences, too. The Wellbeing Service offers drop-in sessions and appointments – do not hesitate to reach out for support.

Think about your balance

  • What restores you, and how often do you make room for it?
  • How do you know when you're running low, before it tips into burnout? What are your early signs?
  • When stress hits, what's your default — push harder, withdraw, distract, or reach out?
  • What's one thing you keep deprioritising that you know would help if you didn't?

Reflect on how you're doing

  • What have you learned about your own limits since arriving at LSE?
  • Who or what have you leaned on when things got heavy, and did you ask, or wait to be noticed?
  • What's a habit you've picked up that your future self will thank you for?
