Short Term Study Letters can only be requested in certain circumstances

Standard Visitor visa letter for short term study Letters can ONLY be requested by LSE students who are:

  • registered but not campus enrolled and required to return to the UK to undertake assessment(s) in RDAP January 2024
  • registered but not campus enrolled and required to return to the UK to undertake assessment(s) in May/June 2024
  • registered but not campus enrolled and required to return to the UK to undertake assessment(s) in IRDAP August 2024
  • attending LSE for no longer than 6 months.

When to request a letter?

  • If you require a Standard Visitor visa to return to the UK in January 2024, you can request a letter now.
  • If you require a Standard Visitor visa to return to the UK in May 2024, please request your letter on or after 1 February 2024.
  • If you require a Standard Visitor visa to return to the UK in IRDAP 2024, please request your letter on or after 4 July 2024.
  • If you make your request during a School closure period it will take us longer to process it. 
  • Advice on whether a Standard Visitor visa is suitable for your plans can be obtained from the Student Advice and Engagement (Visa Advice) Team.

How to request a Standard Visitor Visa Letter

You can use the form below to request a Standard Visitor visa letter for short-term study.

  • Please have your passport and current visa with you. It is your responsibility to fill in this form using correct information.
  • Please complete all fields.
  • You must ensure that your permanent home address, and term-time contact address (if you have one), are updated in LSE for You (New LfY) before submitting your request.
  • Please check all information in the form.  
  • You will receive an email confirmation once we receive your request. If you do not receive an email confirmation, we have not received your request or you have entered an incorrect email address.

For unregistered students re-taking assessments or students who will be at LSE for less than six months.

    Your short-term study visa letter will be emailed to you. It will show your permanent home address as listed in LSE for You. Please ensure this record has been updated BEFORE submitting your request. You can update your details in New LfY. If you are unable to access your LSE account please contact Tech Support (DTS)
  • Please confirm that your address is correct

 

What happens next?

  • Providing your request has been made within the correct time period, your Standard Visitor Visa letter will be emailed to you as soon as possible, and usually within one week of submission. 
  • You are advised to submit a printed paper copy of this letter when making your application for a Standard Visitor visa
