Update (January 2022)
If you've started January looking to do more for your wellbeing, here is a good place to start! This webpage aims to show you at a glance what's going on wellbeing-wise during Lent Term and (hopefully) inspire you to get involved. Whether you're focusing on your mental wellbeing, looking for ways to work on your physical fitness, or would like to know how to access the many other wellbeing benefits available to you as a member of the staff community, we hope that you find something here for you.
We do hope that you take the opportunity to get involved. All activities are entirely free of charge to staff unless specified otherwise. Please make sure that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear to all physical activities, and speak with the instructor before the session starts if there is anything in particular (such as a relevant pre-existing health condition) that you would like them to be aware of. Please make sure that you notify your manager before taking part in any activities that overlap with your usual working hours.
As we're sure you can appreciate, we have a limited number of spaces available for some of these activities, so do let us know as soon as you can if you are unable to attend a pre-booked activity, so that one of your colleagues is able to attend instead.
These wellbeing activities are regularly reviewed and we'll be adding more throughout the term, so do look out for more updates in Staff News as well as via the LSE Tree. In the meantime, we'd love you to get in touch at Staffwellbeing@lse.ac.uk if you have any comments, questions or suggestions. Also, as more of us return to campus, you may find our Return to campus and your wellbeing page another useful resource.
It's also worth keeping in mind that other areas of the School are also involved in initiatives to promote staff wellbeing, such as Sustainability, the Faith Centre and the School's Staff Counselling service.
Best wishes

Here's a quick guide to some of the activities in the wellbeing programme. Please just contact Staffwellbeing@lse.ac.uk if you have any questions about a wellbeing activity or anything else on these pages.
This is a 45 minute virtual class. Ideal for anyone and everyone, Body Balance is a yoga/pilates-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life.
During Body Balance, an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. You’ll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centered.
If you haven’t tried yoga before then Body Balance is a great introduction. If you’re already doing some form of yoga or pilates you’ll love the variety you get with this class.

This is a 45 minute full body workout. This body weight exercises class will help tone and strengthen these problem areas of the legs, bums and tums, and at the same time giving plenty of options for all levels of fitness.
The use of hand weights, bottles of water or cans can be used for added resistance but are not essential. You will also need a bottle of water and a towel. You can also use a yoga mat for extra grip, but this is not essential.
