Summer of Research Culture Pilot Projects |

LSE is inviting applications for Summer of Research Culture Pilot Projects. The purpose of this funding is to provide Departments, Institutes and Centres with funds that can be used to support initiatives that contribute to the enrichment of the School’s research culture. Grants up to £5,000 will be provided to support the implementation of innovative projects that demonstrate the potential to significantly enhance the research culture within the respective department, centre, or institute and have the potential of being adopted across the School.
This initiative is funded by Research England’s Enhancing Research Culture fund. The funds are distributed to HEIs to pilot new initiatives, increase the scale of already-proven activities and continue activities already supported via this funding stream, in accordance with the Government’s R&D People and Culture Strategy. LSE Global Research Fund |

The Global Research Fund aims to fund international collaborative activities by LSE academic and research staff to facilitate the development of international research links and corresponding research outputs. The scheme is open to all disciplines and will particularly welcome applications that demonstrate sustainability of the proposed research partnerships after the initial funding period. The scheme is co-administrated by the Global Academic Engagement team in Philanthropy and Global Engagement (PAGE) and the Research Development team in Research and Innovation, with support from Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research). CIVICA Thematic Research Activities |

LSE faculty, along with postdoctoral researchers and/or doctoral students in CIVICA universities are invited to submit proposals for Thematic Research Activities (workshops, conferences, etc) and/or research proposals for seed-funding. The call aims to foster collaborative research activities, to further existing links within the alliance, or to establish new ones. The scheme aims to fund world-class research and knowledge exchange activities by LSE academic, research and policy staff. The Research Development Panel will award up to £20,000 per project and will particularly welcome exceptional applications from Assistant Professors and Assistant Professorial Research Fellows. The 2023-24 round will have two streams:
Stream 1: Open to project proposals from all disciplines and research ideas (for proposals from eligible LSE staff only.)
Stream 2: Spotlight on project proposals with a focus on AI (for proposals from eligible LSE staff and PhD students.)

LSE Urgency Grant Scheme |

The scheme aims to fund world-class research activities by LSE academic, research and policy staff for unexpected and transient opportunities created by unpredictable, discrete and abrupt events such as pandemics, conflicts, environmental impacts and abrupt policy change. The scheme is open to all disciplines and research ideas but must meet the two evaluation criteria of excellence and urgency. Urgency grants can be up to 12 months in duration and are expected to focus on the urgent data collection and essential initial analysis only. The Research Development Panel will award up to £20,000 per project and will particularly welcome exceptional applications from Assistant Professors and Assistant Professorial Research Fellows. Research Investment Fund (RIF) Bridging Award |

The principal purpose of the RIF Bridging Award is to help principal investigators to retain eligible salaried researchers. Requests to the Bridging Award will only be considered if the researcher is on salary band 6 or above, where funding is available and where the candidate is eligible to work in the UK. International Science Partnership Fund |

LSE is now inviting applications to the internal call for International Science Partnerships Funding. The purpose of this funding is to provide research grants that can be used to support ODA-eligible activity only. LSE staff with employment contracts which include research and are for longer than the duration of the proposed project are eligible to apply. Applications must have a co-investigator from a country on the OECD DAC list. Details of the funding call are available HERE. |
