The National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) hosted the annual CIVICA Presidents' Committee Meeting in Bucharest from July 4th to 5th 2023.

Twenty-six professors and postdoctoral researchers have been selected to take part in the inaugural round of CIVICA Faculty Short Visits taking place from September 2023. The programme provides faculty and postdoctoral researchers across CIVICA with the opportunity to visit other member institutions.
The European Institute will be welcoming Prof. Elias Dinas from the European University Institute, while Dr Milli Lake and Prof. Mathijs Pelkmans will be visiting Hertie School and CEU.
80 bachelor students from Bocconi, CEU, IE University, SNSPA, Sciences Po, SGH, SSE and LSE were joined by 10 Ukrainian bachelor students (thanks to the CIVICA for Ukraine project) and spent the week exploring the existent (and the future) pathways to urban sustainability with experts in Paris.

Four of our students joined 200 other students from across Europe to attend the European Student Assembly, a rare opportunity to contribute directly to policy ideas.

Held at the Institute for Digital Health at the University Teaching Hospital, participants discussed joint longer term projects between the LSE Global Surgery Policy Unit and key academic, clinical, and policy partners in Zambia.

Prof. Emma McCoy, our Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) led our first official group visit to Peking University (PKU) since LSE's last official trip in November 2019.
Professor Paul Kelly, Dr Brendan Smith, Dr Neil McLean, and Dr Catherine Xiang also had fruitful discussions with colleagues from various departments including Statistics and Government.
Prof. Leigh Gardner, Prof. Johan Fourie, Prof. Eric Schneider, and Nick Fitzhenry spent time together to work on a grant proposal looking at data from South Africa. The records they hope to digitise will shed new light on how the simultaneous processes of industrialization and tightening racial discrimination impacted different segments of the South African population.

Dr Armine Ishkanian and researchers from Chile, Armenia, South Africa and Lebanon met face to face for the first time to map the outline of a co-authored article and to agree on other research dissemination and publication activities in the near future.
GAE's global research fund and the support from the International Inequalities Institute and the Eden centre's team were instrumental in facilitating this successfull workshop.

Dr Elizabeth Storer, Dr Solomon Kamurari, and Dr Nixon Niyonzima met with local researchers to work on a joint funding application for a future project on ‘Inequality and Cancer Care’. The global research fund (GRF) was essential in taking this collaboration one step further.
