Your final results

Interpreting the information

For students who receive results on 23 September 2025

Marks and grades in the final results screen have been ratified by the relevant Exam Board.

You can access final results in Student LfY. Head to the My assessments section and then the Final Results tab. You can view results on a computer, tablet or mobile device.

This information on the screen should be self-explanatory but you can expand the sections below for help on understanding what the numbers, letters and symbols on the final results screen mean.

The sections also offer information about Exceptional Circumstances, Appeals and Administrative Mark Checks.

BA and BSc programmes

Blocked results

Results for some students are blocked. If this is the case the screen will explain why and give you guidance on how to get further support.

How do I see marks for individual assessments?

If you are using a larger screen you can access individual assessment marks by clicking the 'Show Assessments' button to the right hand side. You can hide assessment level marks in the same way. On a mobile device the button appears as a down / up chevron.

Overall Marks and Grades

For each course there will be an overall mark and grade. This will be based on the marks you achieved in IRDAP plus any marks banked from earlier assessments. You can interpret the grades using the list below:

1 = First class [70-100%]
2A = Upper Second class [60-69%]
2B = Lower Second class [50-59%]
3 = Third [40-49%]
Fail [0-39%]

Deferred assessments

If you have deferred an assessment then it will show with a status of Deferred. The overall course result will also indicate that at least one assessment has been deferred. Visit when will I take my deferred assessment to find out when you will sit deferred assessments.

If you were not able to take an assessment during IRDAP 2023 because of the impact of the marking and assessment boycott in Summer 2023 then this will also show with a status of deferred.

Absences

If you were absent from an assessment then it will show with a status of Absent. The overall mark for the course will be set at zero. If you were absent from all the assessments in the course it will show with a grade of Absent. If you were absent from at least one component of assessment but have completed others the course will have a grade of Incomplete.

Banked marks

The screen will show any marks that have been 'banked'. For example, if you passed an assessment in a course last year, but are re-sitting another assessment in the same course this year, the mark from last year will show because it has been 'banked'.

Exceptional Circumstances

If you have submitted Exceptional Circumstances, you should have received, or will shortly receive an email from either your Department or the Student Regulations Team informing you of the Exam Board’s Decision.

Challenging your results

We are confident that our assessment process is robust and that the results we have sent you will be accurate. However, in certain circumstances there are routes for you to check and/or appeal your results. Visit challenging results for more information. The deadline for both processes is 23:59 (London Time) on Tuesday 7 October 2025.

Class Grades

Class grades were released in July and will not have changed during IRDAP.

For each course you will also be able to see your class grade from the academic year. Class grades provide an overall assessment of your work over the course of the academic year. Class teachers award grades based on attendance, class participation (engagement and quality), presentations and marks received for essays and/or problem sets. Class grades are sometimes used by your home institutions in determining credit transfer.

To access your class grade this click the 'Show Assessments' button (or down chevron on a mobile device). Your class grade will be listed with the assessments for each course and labelled as 'Class Assessment'. There is no numerical mark for class grades, just a summary letter grade obtained from your class teacher at the end of the academic year or term.
