You can access final results in Student LfY. Head to the My assessments section and then the Final Results tab. You can view results on a computer, tablet or mobile device.
This information on the screen should be self-explanatory but the sections below for help on understanding what the numbers, letters and symbols on the final results screen mean. There is also information about Exceptional Circumstances, Appeals and Administrative Mark Checks.
Blocked results
Results for some students are blocked. If this is the case the screen say your results are unavailable, explain why and give you guidance on how to get further support.
How do I see marks for individual assessments?
If you are using a larger screen you can access individual assessment marks by clicking the 'Show Assessments' button to the right hand side. You can hide assessment level marks in the same way. On a mobile device the button appears as a down / up chevron.
Overall Marks and Grades
For each course there will be an overall mark and grade. This will be based on the marks you achieved in IRDAP plus any marks from earlier assessment periods. You can interpret the grades using the list below:
D = Distinction [70-100%]
M = Merit [60-69%]
P = Pass [50-59%]
F = Fail [(x+1)-49%]
FB = Bad Fail [0 - x]
Check the bad fail threshold for your courses to establish what x is.
Deferred assessments
If you have deferred an assessment then it will show with a status of Deferred. The overall course result will also indicate that at least one assessment has been deferred. Visit when will I take my deferred assessment to find out when you will sit deferred assessments.
Absences
If you were absent from an assessment then it will show with a status of Absent. The overall mark for the course will be set at zero. If you were absent from all the assessments in the course it will show with a grade of Absent. If you were absent from at least one component of assessment but have completed others the course will have a grade of Incomplete.
Banked marks
The screen will show any marks that have been 'banked'. For example, if you passed an assessment in a course last year, but are re-sitting another assessment in the same course this year, the mark from last year will show because it has been 'banked'.
Exceptional Circumstances
If you have submitted Exceptional Circumstances, you should have received, or will shortly receive an email from either your Department or the Student Regulations Team informing you of the Exam Board’s Decision.
Challenging your results
We are confident that our assessment process is robust and that the results we have sent you will be accurate. However, in certain circumstances there are routes for you to check and/or appeal your results. Visit challenging results for more information. The deadline for both processes is 23:59 (London Time) on Thursday 23 October 2025.
