Intermediate transcripts are available for continuing students who have received at least one formally ratified result in a previous year but have not yet completed their programme.

There are four options to access your intermediate transcript. You can:

  • Request for a PDF version of your intermediate transcript to be emailed to you.
  • Request for a PDF version of your intermediate transcripts to be emailed to a third party. We can include any reference numbers of covering forms alongside your transcript.
  • Obtain a hard copy intermediate transcript by visiting the Student Services Centre during our opening hours.
  • Request for a hard copy intermediate transcript to be posted or couriered to a third a party.

You can be issued with an intermediate transcript if you have not yet completed your programme but have received formal results for at least one year of study, for example second and third year undergraduates with published results for earlier years, or graduate students on the second year of a two year programme. Transcripts are not normally provided for MPhil/PhD students – please expand the ‘Research Students’ section below for more information.

We cannot issue intermediate transcripts for students in Year 1 until final, formally ratified results are published following the July or November exam boards.  We cannot issue an intermediate transcript if you have not had any final ratified results released by Student Services. It is not possible to provide transcripts for provisional results (published either by departments or in Student LfY). If you have not yet received any results then you may wish to consider requesting a Certificate of Course Selection instead.

How to request an intermediate transcript

To request an electronic intermediate transcript

Please submit a request using the Student Services enquiry form. You should select Results and Awards then Transcripts then use the submit an enquiry link at the bottom of the page. Please put "Intermediate Transcript" as the subject line. We will then produce your intermediate transcript as a PDF and email it to you as an attachment.

If you would like your transcript to be sent to a third party please provide the email address you would like us to send it to, along with any reference numbers that we should include.

We typically send intermediate transcripts within five working days. Requests made after 12noon on Monday 22 December 2025 will be processed on 5 or 6 January 2026 due to the LSE Winter Closure.

To collect a hard copy paper intermediate transcript yourself

Please come to the Student Services Centre and we will print your transcript.

Please check the opening hours before travelling, as they are subject to alteration, particularly outside of term time.

To request a hard copy paper transcript is posted or couriered to a third party

Most third parties, including WES, will accept a PDF copy of your intermediate transcript. This will be much quicker than requesting a hard copy to be posted.

If you need a hard copy intermediate transcript posted to a third party in a stamped and sealed envelope (for example, to LSAC), you should complete the Student Services enquiry form (selecting Results and Awards then Transcripts). Please provide the addresses, any necessary forms and reference numbers when submitting the enquiry form. You should mark the subject as your enquiry as ‘Intermediate transcript’.

We typically produce intermediate transcripts within five working days. Requests made after 12noon on Monday 22 December 2025 will be processed on 5 or 6 January 2026 due to the LSE Winter Closure.

Transcripts will normally sent by standard post; delivery times are usually between 3 and 5 working days for Europe (so 8 to 10 working days in total) and up to 20 working days (so 25 working days in total) to all other international destinations.  Standard post cannot be tracked. Requests made after 12noon on Monday 22 December 2025 will be posted on 5 or 6 January 2026 due to the LSE Winter Closure.

If you need a faster, trackable service, we can courier it to an overseas address for a fee of £15. This usually takes around a week to most worldwide destinations. If you would like us to use a courier service, please pay here first, and then quote the payment reference number when you submit your request. You should mark the subject of your enquiry as ‘Intermediate transcript to be couriered’.

Research Students

Normally, neither intermediate nor final transcripts are provided for MPhil/PhD study. If you require formal documentation related to your MPhil/PhD studies please contact the PhD Academy.

Transcripts for MRes programmes are available in the same way as other taught programmes. If you’ve completed your MRes (i.e. you have been awarded) then you will be able to obtain a final transcript using Parchment. If you’re in the second year of a two year MRes then you will be able to access an intermediate transcript as outlined above.

Students who have completed their programme

Once we have finished processing your results we will issue you with a final transcript using Parchment. Parchment is a secure, online platform used by educational institutions around the world to share academic credentials. The system will allow you to download your transcript, share it with others and order hard copies.

Your final transcript will usually be issued within a week of results being published and we will email you when it is ready. Your Parchment profile will be linked to the primary personal email address we have on file for you. It takes a little time to issue everybody’s transcripts so please do not worry if your transcript is not immediately available, it will likely become available soon.
