Contacting the Student Services Centre

Find out the different ways to contact the Student Services Centre.

There are three ways you can contact the Student Services Centre (SSC):

If you are a current staff member, you can access staff contacts through the staff webpages

Attending the Student Services Centre in Person

The Student Services Centre (SSC) offers a variety of services from specialist drop-ins to general counter services. Find out more about our opening hours and the services offered on the SSC webpage.

Live Chat

Our Student Services Centre team will be available to answer your questions. Please note that the service is not available during UK public holidays and School closures. Check the SSC page for advance notice of closures.

Live Chat is complementary to the Student Services Centre counter and is currently running at the following times:

  • 9am to 10am
  • 4pm to 5pm

Who is this service for?

The SSC Live Chat is for campus enrolled students studying on taught degree programmes. It is not intended to be used by staff, as you can get in touch by email or via Teams.  We regret that we are unable to assist with queries on the following areas via Live Chat:

  • Potential applicants to LSE - our Student Marketing and Recruitment team have their own Live Chat
  • Applicants and offer holders - the Student Services Centre is not involved in the admissions process so will be unable to advise on the progress of your application or meeting the conditions of your offer. You will need to contact the relevant admissions team.
  • Offer holders and students seeking specialist immigration advice - you should contact the Student Advice and Engagement Team through their dedicated channels.
  • Research degree students - you will need to speak to the PhD Academy
  • Fees, Income and Credit Control
  • IT Technical Support
  • Alumni - please complete our external contact form

Who will I chat to?

The SSC Live Chat is run by staff from all of our teams.  You may not be chatting to a specialist in the area you are querying. Staff may refer you to our contact form so that you get a response from the correct team.

Live Chat is intended for quick queries as a complementary service to the SSC counter and  enquiry form.  If your query is urgent and you are on campus, it would be better to come in person to the Student Services Centre (10:00 am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday).

If you have made a request via our enquiry form for verification letters or transcripts, please wait five working days before contacting us. These cases are dealt with by the respective teams and our Live Chat operators are unable to expedite cases that are within that timeframe

How do I access it?

You can chat to us by clicking on the linked box on the right-hand side of this page. You will be asked to enter your name, surname, email, LSE ID number and subject of your chat.

If you receive a message that no agents are available, it means that we are busy with chats.  You can still get in touch by coming to the Student Services Centre or completing an enquiry form.

Submit an Enquiry Form - Enrolled Students

Before submitting an enquiry, you may like to do a general Google search for what you are looking for. Most of the information and processes are outlined on our webpages. You can also browse the frequently asked questions and how to guides.

You can find our enquiry form by following the steps below:

1. Click on the link to the enquiry form

You can access the enquiry form from the SSC webpages. You will be asked to enter your student ID and password.

2. Find the area you need help with and then choose the relevant drop-down.

Each subject will link to useful web pages, so we recommend reading these first as you may find your question is answered there.

3. If your question is not answered on the web pages

Complete the enquiry form - please provide as much detail as possible in the subject.

If the subject of your question is not listed in the form options, please choose 'Other Student Services enquiries'.

Please allow 3-5 working days for the relevant team to respond. You will not be able to track your enquiry but a member of the team will respond in due course.

All teams in the Student Services Centre will be able to see your enquiry, with the exception of any queries sent via the specialist visa advice form.

Submit an Enquiry Form - External Enquirers

If you are new to LSE or do not have a student or applicant record, or you are an alumnus, you will still be able to submit an enquiry to the Student Services Centre through our external form.
