Education Probationary Review Scheme 

This scheme is applicable to new appointments under the terms of the Education Career Track and operates in place of the Interim and Major Review processes for academic staff on the New Academic Career.

Professional services staff

Career Development Reviews

The CDR scheme for professional services staff is an annual review to set objectives, review performance against the last year’s objectives, discuss development needs and career aspirations.

Grading Process (HERA)

HERA (Higher Education Role Analysis) is the system used by the school to evaluate roles during the recruitment and promotion of professional services staff.

Jobs are assessed using a scoring system that explores examples, supported by evidence, of the duties and responsibilities involved.

Spotlight Prizes and Praises 

The Spotlight Prizes and Praises are intended to encourage more instant recognition for employees when they really go the extra mile. The prizes and praises are an additional formal way for the School to recognise the achievements of PS staff while helping them to feel appreciated for their efforts, celebrating ‘role-model’ behaviour, and encouraging positive performance feedback.

Review Periods 

Review periods are used to enable managers to monitor progress during the initial stages of an appointment as well as allowing new starters to adapt to their new environment.

Promotion for support staff will be based on the role an individual carries out changing significantly, evidenced by a HERA re-evaluation of the role.
