Students at LSE have the opportunity to take part in exchanges, research trips, and new projects. For example, undergraduate exchanges abroad; a full academic year at Berkeley California; or exploring Beijing with the LSE-PKU Summer School.

The LSE Language Centre offers students an opportunity to improve and practise English for students who do not have English as a first language. We offer ways to improve and practise using the English language for academic work with online courses, workshops and one-to-one support.

On many BSc programmes there is an opportunity to receive a language specialism attached to an undergraduate degree. Degree certificates which include a language specialism will state the language in the title, for example: BSc in International Relations (with French).

All LSE managed halls of residence take part in our #SustainableLSE halls campaign which aims to reduce energy and water consumption, and to improve recycling rates. Students can sign up to become Sustainability Ambassadors, with the chance to make a real improvement and win prizes for their halls.

Academic Representatives are a crucial part of the LSESU. More than 400 Academic Representatives are elected by their student peers to represent them during the academic year and to liaise with LSE departmental staff in the Staff-Student Liaison Committees.

These networking events are an opportunity for students to meet alumni from their course and/or their department and learn about their career paths. Networking events are a great way to meet new people and get inspired.

The Alumni Mentoring programme helps current students with professional, career, and research development. Mentoring can give students a greater insight into what they can do after their degree and help build connections with those in the sector.

Our Alumni Network seeks to build relationships across the global community of interfaith leaders. We are seeking to support ongoing leadership development and make connections across the network and through external partnerships to foster understanding and reduce religion-related conflict.

This programme will deepen your understanding of religions and develop leadership skills. There are three modules across Michaelmas and Lent Terms. The modules are: Religious Imaginations in Today's World; Faith Based Climate Action; and Conflict Transformation.

Campaigning at LSESU is the way to make students' voices heard on campus. Campaigners collaborate with the LSESU to change policy at LSE by building a movement that has democratic legitimacy. The LSESU provides expert advice, resources and training.

The programme involves student researchers identifying a particular aspect of LSE to investigate. The students then plan and carry out a small-scale research project with funding and support from LSE. At the end of the project, Change Makers present their findings to LSE senior leadership.

Throughout the year, the Digital Skills Lab offers students opportunities to work and compete in teams, solving real-world digital challenges set by employers and academics.

LSE students have the opportunity to participate in a number of multi-faceted partnerships with prestigious universities abroad. Opportunities are open for undergraduates, graduates and faculty.

The LSESU Committee Hub is a resource containing all the information committee leaders need to deliver their group. Resources range from developing your own group and financial matters, to information on health and safety.

The Community Engagement Programme empowers students to make a difference in the communities we are part of through a consultancy challenge in which teams work together to tackle issues which charities are facing. This programme is open to all current students at LSE.

The Creative Network is a student-led committee striving to celebrate arts on campus, foster collaboration between creative individuals and societies, and build an inclusive community of inspiring minds at LSE.

The committee decides the dates of elections and referenda; chairs the Student Town Halls; decides which motions will go forward to Student Panels; and acts as the main point of contact for students who have questions about how to get involved with the democratic system.

The LSESU Elections are one of the most important dates on the LSESU calendar. This is an opportunity to nominate yourself to represent others or vote for your favourite candidate. Have your say on how your Students’ Union is run and create change at LSE.

ElleSE supports women students as they launch and scale their socially impactful start-up. This pioneering programme supports women at the early stages of their business. The programme offers funding, mentoring, and workshops amongst other things.

The LSE Language Centre offers pre-sessional courses to ensure that students are well prepared for their studies. Passing the LSE Language Test is one way of fulfilling the English language requirement for graduate study at LSE.

English support is available for PhD students at LSE. Support includes a thesis writing course, academic English workshops and one-to-one consultations. There is a range of English courses available on Moodle requiring an LSE login.

Green Impact is a sustainability engagement programme available to staff and student teams across LSE. Each academic year, teams collectively undertake hundreds of actions that cumulatively enhance the environmental impacts of the School.

LIFE in London is a series of guided tours and events designed to inspire students to make the most of their experience in London. Events include guided tours of the area around the LSE campus. Routes of these tours and an overview are available to students so they can walk the routes themselves.

LSE hosts a public lecture programme featuring over 200 events each year, where some of the most influential figures in the social sciences can be heard. The vast majority of events are free to attend, including those which require a ticket. Students are welcome to attend.

Students spend the last two weeks of Summer Term working intensively in small groups, of mixed years and disciplines, with a supervisor. They choose a research question and methodology, collect and analyse data, and write and present a paper at a final conference.

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are the only official French language proficiency qualifications. LSE is a DELF and DALF testing centre. These exams evaluate four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) is a contemporary test of Russian language. The LSE Language Centre is an official testing centre. The exams evaluate five skills: writing, grammar, reading, listening, and speaking.

The LSESU media groups are entirely student-led and there are many ways to get involved – whether it's through an editorial role, anchoring your own TV production or putting together a radio show. Options include: The Beaver; Pulse Radio; Loose TV; and Clare Market Review.

LSESU offers students the opportunity to become or elect five sabbatical officers (paid) and eleven part-time (voluntary) officers that champion the needs of students at LSE. These officers will lead LSESU and campaign for student rights, amongst other duties.

LSE PhD students have the opportunity to study across the CIVICA alliance. CIVICA is the European University of Social Sciences. CIVICA brings together 50,000 students and PhDs and 10,000 faculty from eight world-renowned higher education institutions across Europe.

A Student Members' Meeting motion is a document proposing a change to the Union's policy. Motions can be submitted on anything ranging from decisions taken by LSE or LSESU, to wider national or even international concerns. Any member of the LSESU can submit a motion.

The Sustainability e-module has been designed with the aim of increasing your understanding of sustainability at LSE. From how we are reducing our environmental impact to how research and education are contributing to the wider sustainability agenda and the many ways you can personally get involved.

The Sustainable Projects Fund awards funding to student- and staff-led projects that enhance sustainability at LSE. It is run by the LSESU Sustainable Futures Society with support from the sustainability team at LSE. Applications are submitted around December and January.
